We are very proud to establish a bridge of friendship between Turkey and Ireland. Your strip is red, the colour of The Turkish Flag. Turkey's flag got its colour from the war in Gallipoli (Gelibolu) in 1915. During the war 505.000 soldiers were killed. Anzaks, which is a name for all the soldiers gathered from Australia, New Zealand, India, Wales, Scotland, England and Ireland. The Irish and Scottish were sent first to fight. One night, one of the trenches appeared to be filled with the blood of the Turk and The Anzak soldiers. On the blood was a reflection of the crescent shaped moon and a star. That was the inspiration to form the Turkish flag. Whatever scores you get, make sure we will be feeling proud of you.
